“The role of Energy Agencies and the challenges of the energy transition”, is the title of the article by Nelson Lage, the President of ADENE – Portuguese Energy Agency/EnR Presidency for 2022, in the publication “The European Files”, where he calls out attention to the challenges of the energy transition in Europe.
Nelson Lage recalls that the European Union has a responsibility to fulfill the objectives of carbon neutrality at a critical time for the entire planet. “Europe is at a crossroads. On one hand, it aims to reduce greenhouse gases by at least 55% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, yet on the other hand, it fails to respond to the growing demand for energy combined with the lack of renewable energy capacity.”
For the President of ADENE, that this year has the Presidency of the European Energy Network (EnR), energy agencies are an important ally to meet the challenges of decarbonization, as they are organizations that “through their proximity to people and territories, can provide the information that citizens need, guaranteeing technical rigor and serving as a support for changing behaviors and mentalities.”
“The European Files” is a publication aimed at European institutions, governments, and citizens, presenting itself as a reference within European institutions, political sectors and European industries.
